Redefining The Movie Experience In New Jersey

Redefining The Movie Experience In New Jersey

Wait until the movie’s available on Redbox or go out to your local movie theater and see the movie when it’s released?

This is a common conundrum that movie lovers are faced with in this day and age. After all, there’s nothing quite like a relaxing night spent at home watching that movie you’ve been dying to see.

Just imagine: You put on your most comfortable pajamas; you curl up on your couch with your favorite blanket and pop in the movie of your choice.

Though that sounds like pure bliss, there’s the other side of the coin. Let’s say you had been waiting years to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The movie finally hits theaters and you can’t even think of waiting another few months until it comes out on DVD.

You pre-order your ticket, fight through the crowds, get a popcorn and drink and make your way into the theater to watch the movie you’ve been waiting years for with a room full of people you’ve never met before.

The latter makes going to the movies sound anything less than enjoyable. To that point, with the prices of tickets and concessions and the general time that it takes to get to the theater and get situated, going to the movies has become a less than enjoyable, not to mention expensive experience.

That’s why movie theaters all across the country have been working to transform their theaters into more than just a movie screen, but an experience.

Now, more and more movie theaters, especially in New Jersey are making a trip to the movies a more enjoyable experience that’s worth the money rather than just buying a ticket, a seat and a bag of popcorn.

In 2016, we’re seeing theaters transforming their old-fashioned stadium seating and trading it in for plush La-Z-Boys that recline to give customers the comforts of home while enjoying their movie.

Let’s take a look to see how movie theaters in New Jersey are getting people off of their couch and into the theater!

Paramus, NJ – Garden State 16. This AMC Theater combines film, food, and fun all in one! Moviegoers in Paramus have the luxury of catching the latest flick at this state-of-the-art theater.  How about movies with a menu? This feature blends a movie theater and restaurant into one offering that gives patrons the option to enjoy a show along with a delicious menu and a full cocktail bar. That’s not all, there’s even seat-side service at the push of a button. As you can see, it’s not solely about the movie anymore; it’s about the experience - a theme that’s gaining traction in 2016.

Nanuet, NY – One of Regal Nanuet Stadium 12 & RPX’s tagline is “Lights, camera, recline!” These luxurious and spacious Regal King Size recliners are available at select movie theater locations and offer an even more immersed movie experience.  RPX, IMAX and REALD3D cinema screens are available for guests viewing pleasure! Variety is the spice of life and this theater lives out that mantra.

Mahwah, NJ – Suffern, New York is home to the Galaxy Lafayette Theater which USA Today named of the “10 great places to revel in cinematic grandeur.” This theater in particular takes you on a trip down memory lane as you experience the allure of its history while enjoying your desired movie.  This theater in particular dates back to the Revolutionary War when the Suffern Amusement Company hired a theater architect to design a location in the downtown area. The theater opened its doors in 1924 and since then a lot has changed! But the one thing that’s remained true is the historical and intricate design of the theater itself. In fact, some of the original pieces from the theater are still in running condition like the chandelier that’s hoisted from the ceiling of the theater.  Additionally, not only are new releases shown at the theater, the Lafayette also shows classics as well. In fact, The Lafayette Theater is the area’s only historic single screen movie palace. Did you know that before the Big Screen Classics shows, the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ is played prior to the Friday and Saturday night features? The Lafayette is more than just a night at the movies; it’s a night back in history, too!

Thanks to technology and the need to appeal to the masses, theater spaces are being transformed into places that are just as comfortable as your couch at home. That’s why movie theaters continue to become more than just a movie but an experience!
